Our Origins
Mmela Capital was born out of a lack of access to capital assets critical for growth — especially for emerging companies such as start-up QSEs needing office automation, growing construction firms requiring yellow equipment, owner-driver schemes, and Government departments needing to convert CapEx to OpEx for costly medical equipment and automotive fleets.
From its inception in 2004, Mmela Financial Services realised that every asset they insured had already been financed, prompting the company to expand upstream into sourcing and financing assets that would later be insured.
Since 2010, Mmela has raised R6 billion worth of automobile asset financing.
Meanwhile, Mmela Financial Services managed insurance premiums valued at just under R1.5 billion.
